Man killed in Tully construction site accident

Construction workers are in one of the most dangerous occupations. There are many ways in which a New City construction worker can be injured on the job, which is why putting safety measures in place is so important. A recent tragic accident in Onondage County illustrates the importance of taking this action.

There, a man who was directing traffic around a worksite in Tully was hit and killed recently. The Suit-Kote employee was at a work site on Route 80 and Woodmacy Road directing traffic when another Suit-Kote employee who was backing up a dump truck ran him over. Multiple emergency response teams rushed to the scene along with a medical helicopter, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.

No one expects their loved one to be seriously injured or killed in a construction accident. Unfortunately, many families in the New City area have to face this reality each year. When an employer cuts corners and doesn't invest in proper safety measures and safety trainings, the risk of these accidents increases. A legal professional who is skilled in construction accidents can help their client during this devastating time. An attorney can help investigate what caused the accident and who may be at fault. They can fight to hold the negligent parties responsible for their mistakes, and seek compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, lost wages, and other damages.

An unexpected construction accident can seriously affect a family. An injured worker often ends up suffering extensive injuries that can require months or even years of rehabilitation. In the worst cases, workers are taken before their time, which can throw a family into emotional and financial upheaval. For this reason, it is important for injured workers and their families to understand that they have the legal right, whether through the workers' compensation system or a third-party negligence claim, to seek accountability and the compensation they deserve.
